About Hughes Research Fellowships
The MU-HHMI C3: Collaboration, Computation, Communication Program offers 12-month Hughes Research Fellowships (HRF) to rising MU sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Fellows have the opportunity to participate in life science research emphasizing collaborative and computational approaches with MU faculty mentors and interact with School of Journalism students to learn how to communicate science effectively with any audience.
Hughes Research Fellowship features:
- Participate in year-round lab research (full-time during the summer, part-time during the academic year)
- Develop science communication skills and create multimedia projects promoting research
- Attend weekly discussions on topics ranging from your own research, to new journal articles of note, to science in the public media
- $6,500 annual stipend + travel funds to attend a scientific conference with your faculty mentor
