C3 Hughes Research Apprenticeships
The MU-HHMI C3: Collaboration, Computation, Communication Program offers academic year Hughes Research Apprenticeships (HRA) to incoming MU freshmen. Apprenticeships offer first-year undergraduate students interested in the life sciences an opportunity to get off to a running start with their college experience.
Hughes Research Apprenticeship features:
- 5-day summer orientation workshop that includes lab skills workshops, meeting with students and faculty to learn what it’s like to work in a research lab, and learn about a variety of life sciences research projects happening at MU (as well as exploring Columbia, participating in social activities and making new friends!)
- Get paid to do research! Apprentices are matched with faculty mentors over the summer and get $8/hour and spend about 10 hours/week in lab during the academic year.
- Biweekly group meetings to discuss projects, read primary scientific literature, and identify the broader impacts of your work.
